Sports club website design that keeps itself current.

Every club website launches up to date and is stale within two months, because keeping it current is somebody’s unpaid weekend job. This one updates itself.

The problem with club websites is almost never the design. It is that somebody has to feed them, and nobody has time.

A site launches looking good, then falls behind, then supporters stop checking it and go to Facebook instead. The club concludes websites are not worth investing in, when what actually failed was the maintenance.

Fixtures and results that arrive on their own

Fixtures, results, the log, squad lists and player statistics come from the Octafield archive and publish themselves. Nobody logs in on a Saturday to type a score.

Where a competition has no feed, one person updates a control screen during the match and everything downstream follows — site, app, push and social card, from a single entry. The arithmetic on what that saves is in why fixtures should update themselves.

The pages that carry the traffic

Most clubs build a homepage carousel and neglect the pages people actually visit. In rugby it is the log and the squad. In cricket it is scorecards and averages.

The competition table is worth particular attention: "currie cup log" peaks near fifty thousand searches a month at a difficulty most club sites could beat. If you do not carry it, that traffic goes to a newspaper and sees somebody else's advertising.

Sport-specific detail is in rugby club website design and cricket club website design. Golf clubs have a different visitor again — see golf club website design.

The Saturday test. Ask any web vendor what happens when the score changes. If somebody logs in and types it into three places, you are buying a brochure with a fixture list attached, and paying for that manual work every week of every season.

Keeping the site you already have

If your site was built recently and you like it, you do not need a new one. A single script tag adds the live match centre, fixtures, log and squad to the site you already run.

Clubs mid-contract with an agency start this way and move the rest later.

Where the sponsors go

A logo strip in the footer is not inventory. Named placements — match centre, fixtures page, squad page — are served, counted and reported, so a partner sees delivery instead of a promise.

The partners page itself is the most under-built page in club rugby: a real page with each sponsor described and linked is worth money and costs nothing. That connects to sponsorship packages.

What it costs

The website is included from our Matchday tier upward, with hosting, updates and the data feed. No hourly change requests and no rebuild cycle. A local agency typically charges €3,500–12,000 for a build alone — the comparison is in what agencies charge, and our tiers are on the pricing page.
